‘Fleabag’ Season 2 Trailer
on: February 26, 2019, 02:01:09 AM

Fame came and took Waller-Bridge off the market for a little bit. And for ones, she was busy with creating “Killing Eve,” the critically-acclaimed BBC America drama that just scooped up a lot of recent Emmys for its leads including Sandra Oh. But with that show now up and running and on to a second season, Waller-Bridge has returned her attention to “Fleabag.”

The second season returns to BBC in March 2019, and it features Kristin Scott Thomas, Fiona Shaw, and Andrew Scott.

The logline is pretty simple and season two picks up not too far from the end of the first season. Fleabag’s family is as dysfunctional as ever: her uptight sister Claire, played by Sian Clifford, hasn’t forgiven her, and Claire’s obnoxious alcoholic husband is still on the scene, while the pair are presenting a united front as they come to term with their father’s relationship with their godmother, played by Olivia Colman. Bill Paterson, Brett Gelman, Jenny Rainsford, and Hugh Skinner also return.

A six-part comedy series adapted from Waller-Bridge’s 2013 award-winning play about a young woman trying to cope with life in London whilst coming to terms with a recent tragedy, it’s been a long minute since we’ve seen “Fleabag.” The show debuted on BBC Three in the U.K. in the summer of 2016 and a few weeks later, Amazon Studios was airing it on Amazon Prime. “Fleabag” was a bit of a U.K. version of “Trainwreck,” or at least superficially—a young woman who is her own enemy having difficulties navigating adulthood—but it was much darker, much funnier and much, much richer.

“Fleabag” returns Monday, March 10 on BBC Three. No word on its Amazon debut but if it’s anything like season one it should be coming later this year.
