Perhaps even more so.” Foster talks lead McGregor, saying, “Obviously, [Ewan] is a grown man, but he also has a very boyish look to him that I feel was important to be connected to,” Forster says. “You feel like there’s this inner child to him, even though it’s buried. It’s there.” Following his Golden Globe-winning stint on FX‘s “Fargo,” McGregor returns to the big screen in a new take on A.A. Milne‘s timeless characters, not to be confused with 2017’s similar “Goodbye, Christopher Robin.” In the heartwarming live-action adventure “Disney’s Christopher Robin,” the young boy who loved embarking on adventures in the Hundred Acre Wood with a band of spirited and lovable stuff animals, has grown up and lost his way. Now it is up to his childhood friends to venture into our world and help Christopher Robin remember the loving and playful boy who is still inside. Fun act, indie filmmaker Alex Ross Perry, known for caustic works like “Listen Up Philip,” “Queen of Earth” and the upcoming “Her Smell” starring Elisabeth Moss, Amber Heard, and Ashley Benson, is the unlikely screenwriter here. And not just a pass, he’s got the “story by” credit along with the first screenplay credit. Allison Schroeder also has a credit and IMDB says Tom McCarthy (“Spotlight“) did “additional writing.” Along with McGregor, in the titular role, the film also features Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Chris O’Dowd, and the voice of Jim Cummings as Winnie The Pooh. “Christopher Robin” hits theaters August 3.
