However, instead of being written off as the first of many “A Quiet Place”-esque films, the talent involved in “Bird Box” is enough for you to cast your doubts aside. Joining Bullock in the cast are Trevante Rhodes, Sarah Paulson, and John Malkovich. The film is directed by Academy Award winner Susanne Bier, and written by Eric Heisserer, best known for his Academy Award-nominated work on the sci-fi film “Arrival.”

“Bird Box” will hit select theaters and Netflix’s streaming service on December 21.
