It’s unclear if a movie like “Billionaire Boys Club” was rejected from the film festival circuit due to Spacey’s presence in the film—absolutely no one is going to touch that kind of radioactivity—but it could have been the greatest thing since sliced bread, and it would have been bypassed.

Netflix has already decided to shitcan “Gore,” starring Kevin Spacey as Gore Vidal and while Edgar Wright hinted that maybe Spacey’s character could come back for a potential “Baby Driver” sequel (which is in development), that plan has likely been purged from even the faintest memory.

Spacey was also fired from “House Of Cards,” the Netflix show he starred in and helped create in the first place, and it’s returning later this year in its final season without the actor. All of this is to say that “The Billionaire Boys Club” unfortunately doesn’t stand much of chance out there in a crowded market though it’ll perhaps receive some press from curious journalists.

Presumably, its lead, Ansel Elgort, who once promoted the film regularly on social media during production, and any of its other stars, won’t be doing a lick of press for it. “The Billionaire Boys Club” co-stars Cary Elwes and Judd Nelson and it set to hit theaters on July 19 via Vertical Entertainment (who haven’t even bothered to list the film on their website). Here’s the trailer for the curious.
