When two brothers, celebrating their 62nd birthday, fell to their deaths, the occasion turned tragic. On the KZN North Coast, the incident took place on Thursday evening in the Chaka's Rock region. Dylan Meyrick claims that after a third-story balcony collapsed, IPSS Medical Rescue and IPSS Search and Rescue arrived at a Chaka's Rock complex. Three people who had been on the balcony at the time of the collapse were discovered to be critically ill upon arrival. “Medics worked to stabilize the patients as IPSS Medical implemented advanced life support. Unfortunately, two of the patients' conditions got worse. Both were declared dead, despite the best efforts of all on the scene. Under the supervision of IPSS Medical Advanced life support, the third patient, a female, was transferred to a facility in the area. It is thought that the woman was the fiancé of one of the men's sons. The twins and a woman were posing for a picture against a wooden railing when it gave way and they fell about 15 meters, according to the North Coast Courier. "Our condolences go out to the friends and family of the deceased," Meyrick said. Meyrick stated that SAPS would conduct additional research. Another incident occurred in March 2021, when a toddler fell from a fourth-floor apartment on Durban's North Beach. According to Netcare 911's Shawn Herbst, the child fell through the window. He stated that the child needed to be flown to a hospital because of his critical condition when paramedics arrived on the scene. He unfortunately passed away shortly thereafter from his injuries.
