Due to xenophobic assaults, Zambia's soccer association has called off its friendly match against South Africa.

It was planned that Chipolopolo and Bafana Bafana will square off in Zambia on Saturday.

The Zambia Football Association wrote in a statement released on Tuesday night: "The Zambia Football Association (FAZ) regrets to inform the public that the international friendly match between Zambia and South Africa scheduled for National Heroes Stadium on Saturday, September 7, 2019 has been called off in view of the prevailing security concerns in South Africa.

FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala has relayed the message to the South African Football Association (SAFA) about the decision.

The South African Football Association is now looking for a replacement for Saturday’s match.

It comes after the body has been threatened with canceling the match if tensions are not quieted in the nation. This week, violence flared in different areas of Gauteng as individuals went on the rampage and ransacked shops owned by foreign nations. The impacted areas included Alexandra, the CBD in Johannesburg, and Kempton Park.
