President Muhammadu Buhari will receive an honourable guest on Monday, August 24.

Ban Ki-moon, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, is scheduled to arrive in Nigeria on August 23.

President Buhari will meet Ban Monday and will afterwards involve him in a few field activities.


Following the democratic presidential poll on March 28 in what is an extraordinary diplomatic largesse for Nigeria and presidency, leading nations around the world are offering the president state visits this year.

This comes just as the United Nations is also looking forward to Buhari’s participation at the 70th anniversary of the world body in New York in September.


The official said more than 100 heads of state are expected alongside Buhari at the yearly global summit in New York, where the Nigerian delegation might be one of the major attractions.

Rrecall that American President Barack Obama met with President Buhari less than eight weeks after Buhari sworn in, to underline the importance the US attaches to good relations with Nigeria.
