Fire has engulfed the Music House belonging to popular gospel musician, Dr Yinka Ayefele, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The incident, which occurred on Friday, reportedly affected the entire building, which also houses Fresh FM, a radio station owned by the singer.
Eyewitnesses said thick smoke and flames were seen billowing from the structure as workers and passers-by rushed to safety.
One witness, Adewale Adediran, said, “We suddenly saw smoke coming from the upper part of the building, and before long, the fire spread quickly. People were running around, calling the fire service.”
Emergency services, including men of the Oyo State Fire Service, were said to have arrived at the scene to battle the blaze.
Speaking at the location, an official of the fire service, who declined to be named, said, “We received a distress call and mobilised immediately. Our men are working hard to bring the situation under control.”
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and no casualties had been confirmed as at the time of filing this report.
Dr Yinka Ayefele, who is celebrated for his Tungba gospel music style, is yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
Police officers have cordoned off the area to manage the crowd and ensure safety while firefighting efforts continue.
Authorities have urged members of the public to avoid the vicinity to allow emergency teams unhindered access to the site.
