Happy birthday, Davido, The Afropop and Afrobeat singer is celebrating his 24th birthday today.

Davido is best known to our Entertainment for his 2011 single ” Dami Duro”.

David Adedeji Adeleke (born November 21, 1992), better known by his stage name Davido, is an American-born Nigerian recording artist, performer and record producer. His 2011 single ” Dami Duro” was well-received throughout Nigeria.

Known for his Afropop album Omo Baba Olowo, as well as for such singles as “Dami Duro” and “Back When,” this American-born Nigerian recording artist and music producer received numerous honors, including a 2012 Kora Award, a 2014 BET Award, and a 2014 MTV Africa Music Award.

Along with his elder brother Adewale Adeleke, Davido is the co-owner of HKN Music (a record label home to Sina Rambo, B. Red and DeeKay). Also the owner of DWN (Davido Music Worldwide, A record lable home to Dremo, Lola Rae, Mayorkun, Ichaba, Dammy Krane).

He has produced songs for Naeto C, Skales, Tiwa Savage and Sauce Kid. In
April 2012, he signed an endorsement deal with MTN Nigeria.

Before beginning his music career, he studied at Nigeria’s British International School and went on to earn a degree in
business from Oakwood University in Alabama, U.S.A.

His single “Skelewu” made Premium Times’ 2013 list of Top Ten Songs of the Year.

As of December 2014, Davido has received a total of 29 awards from 74 nominations. He is the recipient of a BET Award, a Kora Award, a Channel O Music Video Award, a Ghana Music
Award, a Nigeria Music Video Award, 2 MTV Africa Music Awards, 2 African Muzik Magazine Awards, 5 The Headies Awards, 7 Nigeria Entertainment
Awards and 2 Dynamix All Youth
Awards.

In December 2015, the we reported that Davido and his baby’s mother, Sophia Momodu, were embroiled in a fight over the custody of their daughter Imade Adeleke. We reported that it all started after Sophie and her family filed a petition against Davido and his family for alleged child trafficking. In a petition sent to the Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, Davido and his family were accused of keeping Imade away from her mother since July
2015, as well as trying to flee Nigeria with the baby. Davido has since insisted that the allegations against him are false, but apologized to Dele Momodu, the cousin of Sophia Momodu.

He was born in Atlanta, Georgia,
to Nigerian business executive Deji Adeleke and college professor Vero Adeleke. His birth name was David Adedeji Adeleke. He dated model Sira
Kante.
