Klagenfurt - The IRONMAN will be held in Klagenfurt on July 3, 2022. At the lido in Klagenfurt, the starting signal for the professional athletes will be delivered at 6.30 a.m. The professional starting field includes a few Austrians, notably Michael Weiß, the IRONMAN champion from last year.

The starting gun for this year's IRONMAN will go off at the Klagenfurt lido on July 3, 2022. In addition to the athletes, Mayor Christian Scheider is eagerly anticipating (Team Carinthia). In his words, the main competition serves as a springboard for youth and mass sport: "It is a particular joy that the event can take place again this year in full and I wish all participants good success and perseverance."

The sports event is not only an important support for the tourist region of Klagenfurt am Wörthersee, but also for the surrounding communities in the late pre-season, says Helmuth Micheler , Managing Director of the Klagenfurt am Wörthersee Tourist Association : "The athletes not only produce almost 45,000 overnight stays in the Central area between Velden, Klagenfurt and St. Veit, but also make a massive contribution to value creation with total expenditure of around 7 million euros."

“With this great event we can cover three important tourism themes, namely running, swimming and cycling in Carinthia's nature. This year, the top three winners will be able to take home a very special prize: a 30 centimeter high steel sculpture by the international artist Armin Guerino. These unique pieces are the miniature edition of the two IRONMAN sculptures on the running track in Lendhafen and in Europapark. "I wish the numerous athletes an unforgettable experience and I would like to thank the thousands of helpers for their commitment, without whom such a major sporting event would not be possible," said State Sports Director Arno Arthofer .
