As a result, the Lagos government has mandated the school's closure. As the deceased's family continued to inquire about the school, the deceased's mother, Mrs. Blessing Adeniran, accused Chrisland of negligence. According to Mrs. Adeniran, the school did not provide first aid because it had no emergency response plans for the event. Despite the doctor's reference to a cardiac arrest, she explained that Whitney did not have any previous heart conditions. The school has been closed while an investigation continues, according to Folasade Adefisayo, the commissioner of education for the state of Lagos. The commissioner made the following statement: "We also note the impact of this unfortunate event on Whitney's family, friends, and acquaintances and call for calm as we assure that no effort will be spared in investigating the incident." In the meantime, in response to public criticism following the student's death, Chrisland School management issued a statement stating that Whitney had reported "not-too-buoyant" health on January 20, contrary to her parents' claims. According to the statement, proximity factors influenced the decision to transport Whitney to a health center rather than a hospital. It mentions that she slumped in public and dismisses suggestions that the death was the result of negligence. According to a portion of the statement, "Our immediate response was to take advantage of proximity by identifying the nearest medical facility to take her to, where the doctor on duty administered oxygen and every aid possible to her."
