The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has suspended the use of the National Identification Number to register for the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination UTME.

JAMB registrar Ishaq Oloyede, who confirmed this while briefing journalists in Abuja on Saturday, said the move was to provide more time for candidates to get their national identification numbers.

He said the suspension was also intended to address the technical challenges that some centers face.

He requested candidates to disregard the use of NIN for registration in 2020, and to strictly follow other registration procedures. He said JAMB will consider using NIMC for 2021 tests, however.

Last year, the board said from 2020, candidates must register with their national ID number to overcome numerous registration problems for their exams.
