There were solid signs on Wednesday that some state governments were on an impact course with the Federal Government over their understudies' interest in the 2020 West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination.
Investigations by The PUNCH demonstrated that six South-West states, Ebonyi and Cross River states had begun getting ready to review their students in anticipation of the assessment.
The arrangement negates the choice of the Federal Government, which after the Federal Executive Council meeting on July 8, said it had suspended the arrangement to review graduating students for WASSCE.
On Monday, there was disarray over the resumption as the Federal Ministry of Education gave rules for the reviving of schools, yet neglected to show the resumption date.
Before the Federal Government's choice at the July 8 FEC meeting, the National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Dr Sani Aliyu, at the PTF public interview on June 29, had stated, "Understudies in graduating classes – just graduating classes; Primary 6, JSS 3 and SSS3 – will be permitted to continue in anticipation of assessments."
In the midst of the disarray at the bureaucratic level, some state governments on Wednesday started arrangements for their understudies to sit for WASSCE.

The Development Agenda for Western Nigeria said the South-West states had implied their status to permit their students to sit for the 2020 WASSCE.
The Director General of DAWN, Seye Oyeleye, in an announcement he gave on Wednesday, said the choice was a piece of the goals made by the state governments toward the finish of a web based gathering started on Tuesday by the commission.
The gathering was held as a team with the discussion of South-West training officials, exceptional consultants on instruction and the state all inclusive essential training board executives.
