Posted by: Morayo« on: July 24, 2017, 09:46:10 PM »![]() Three suspected armed robbers have been killed by the police between Lamba and Dansiri Villages in Bichi local government area of Kano state along Kano-Katsina highway on Sunday. Confirming the development (PPRO) Magaji Musa Majia, said the armed robbers were killed in a gun duel with operatives of the IGP’s Special Tactical Squad (STS) Kano Sector and Special Anti-Robbery Squad Kano. Majia said the gang had developed the habit of blocking the Kano-Katsina road and rob traders and other innocent Nigerians of their moneys and other valuables after closing hours of a weekly Market in Charanchi local government area of Katsina state. He said, the “Police have received series of complaints about the activities of this gang from traders, nearby villagers and other road users. They normally rob people on Sunday which is market day in Charanchi. “Following the complaints, the Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Yusuf directed the STS and SARS to mobilise to the area and handle the situation. On the fateful Sunday, the robbers on sighting Police team, they engaged them in a shootout of almost 15minutes. “Later 3 suspected Armed Robbers were fatally wounded and two English made AK47 Rifle, a locally made Pistol, two AK47 Rifle magazines, 47 rounds of live ammunition, three cartridges and one cutlass were recovered from the suspects. He said the suspects were later confirmed dead by medical Doctor at Hospital, saying no casualty on the police side and that investigation is ongoing. The PPRO, therefore, called on members of the public to continue supporting police by informing them with useful information about suspicious persons, motor vehicles, houses, warehouses, shops and garages for necessary action.
