Posted by: Morayo« on: April 24, 2023, 09:03:22 AM »Six persons have died in a fatal accident around the popular Kara Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The incident happened in quick succession from the bus somersaulting, to it bursting into flames leading to the fatalities. Eyewitnesses told Channels Television that the dead victims include the bus driver, two children, and three women. Lagos Deputy Corps Commander (Operations), Lucas Oguntade who also confirmed the incident said rescue efforts were still ongoing. Oguntade added that while some casualties were recorded, some victims were rescued and have been taken to the hospital for medical attention. He said; “As we speak, the rescue operation is not yet concluded. There are some deaths, while some are rescued and have been taken to the hospital.” Oguntade who further revealed that they've launched a probe into the accident, blamed it on over-speeding. He said; “From the look of things, we know that the vehicle somersaulted and resulted in this high level of casualties. Meanwhile, the investigation must be concluded before we can now give a holistic appraisal of the incident.”
