63-Year-Old Chinese Grandma Arrested at Lagos Airport With 31kg of ‘Canadian Loud’ Hidden in Large Travel Boxes

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested a 63-year-old Chinese grandmother, Ting Hung Kiong, for allegedly attempting to smuggle a large consignment of “Canadian Loud,” a synthetic strain of cann@bis, into Nigeria.

The suspect, a Chinese national said to have become naturalised in Malaysia, was arrested on Sunday, May 17, 2026, after arriving in Nigeria from Thailand via Dubai aboard an Emirates Airline flight.

She was intercepted by NDLEA operatives at the Terminal 2 Arrival Hall of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos.

According to investigations, the elderly suspect travelled from Malaysia to Thailand before heading to Nigeria through the United Arab Emirates with two large travel boxes containing 31 kilograms of the synthetic cann@bis.

During interrogation, Ting Hung Kiong, who claimed to work as a caregiver in Malaysia, told authorities that her daughter sponsored her trip from Malaysia to Thailand and later to Nigeria.

She further disclosed that she spent two weeks in Thailand before she was allegedly handed the ill#cit drug consignment at the airport for delivery in Nigeria.
