A fatal accident along the Tunga Giwa – Ruwa road in Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi, claimed the lives of 22 traders on Monday March 20th.

The traders were returning from Tungan Giwa market when the accident happened.

According to reports, the accident occurred when a van carrying the traders somersaulted and caught fire while trying to avoid a pothole. The van hit a motorcyclist who also died in the accident.

All 22 traders who were on board the van died and were buried in a mass grave yesterday. The Funeral was attended by the state governor, Abubakar Bagudu.

Eight other persons who sustained injuries in the accident are currently receiving treatment at the Yauri General Hospital. Photos of them below..
