At about 4.45pm last Thursday, 5 April 2018, a group of armed bandits, which I have aptly tagged terrorists, wrecked unprecedented violence on my 'Jerusalem' leaving in their trails, many lost souls, properties, injured persons and a highly traumatized people.

Chroniclers of security occurrences have described the dastardly attack on Offa as the worst of such in Nigeria's history.

Every bit of the attack points to one direction - a calculated, well orchestrated and horrifically executed action to annihilate us as a people and disable us socially and economically.

When we broke into the year 2018, what was on our radar was the pursuit of our submission to the Guinness World Record for OFFA to be recognized and awarded the record as the First Single Town to prod 100e were anxiously waiting to trend with our unique feat.

Alas, it was for something not pleasant that we are trending on.

But as a resilient people with indomitable spirit, we have collectively resolved not to be deterred by the evil acts of the heartless perpetrators.

We cannot be cowed or be subjugated in the pursuit of our renowned academic, commerce and self-help goals. We will rise, as we have always done, from the ashes of this attack and with a collective resolve that never again will such violence be wrecked on us as a people.

We thank those who promptly came to our aid, those who have paid condolence visits, those who have done one thing or the other since the sad occurrence of last Thursday in aid of the injured, the traumatized, the community and in according the dead, decent burials. Their memories will remain indelible.

We request you all, wherever you are at 4.45pm TODAY, to spare 60 seconds to pray for all those who lost their lives, the injured and Offa.

May the Lord repose the souls of the departed, grant the injured speedy
recoveries and continue to prosper Offa - the Summit of Knowledge.
