Herdsmen Reportedly Set Olu Falae’s Farm On Fire

A few men suspected to be Fulani herdsmen on Sunday evening supposedly attacked a ranch having a place with the previous Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Chief Olu Falae, setting it ablaze.

The homestead, it was assembled, is situated at Ilado Community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Sources told newsmen that the gangsters did not take anything on the ranch but rather they torched five hectares of the homestead which was the oil palm manor.

Affirming the occurrence when addressing The Punch, the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the previous SGF, Captain Moshood Raji said he (Raji) was called by a policeman that was directing the ranch.

He said the episode occurred around 6pm.

Raji stated, "At around 6pm, I got a message from one of the cops joined to the ranch that the homestead has been torched by some criminals.

"There was no specialist on the ranch when the episode happened in light of the fact that it was a Sunday.

"We are en route to the homestead now to know the degree of the harm.

"We have educated the Commissioner of Police. Around five hectares of the land were influenced.

"The oil palm manor was influenced and in addition a few sections of the yam and cassava estates."


Whenever reached, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Femi Joseph, said he didn't know about the episode.

"I am not mindful of it as at now. The issue lacks to my table as I'm conversing with you," Joseph said.

In his response, Chief Falae said the herdsmen were purposely assaulting his ranch for reasons unknown, depicting the go about as malignant and mischievous.

He said this was the third time they would assault his ranch, saying they additionally did it in January 2017.

He stated, "I don't know why the herdsmen were assaulting my ranch; they did it a year ago, they did likewise year before the last.

"That is the way they consume it consistently so crisp grass can turn out for their cows to eat.

"They assault my oil palm development; the develop oil palm trees that have been bearing natural products to influence palm to oil have been burned to the ground.

"This is a fiendish demonstration and malevolent harm. This goes past what their cows need to eat.

"Steers don't eat oil palm. This is a malevolent assault."
