A man known as Tunde Martins who defrauded Diamond Bank for N30 million has been imprisoned by Justice Josephine Oyefeso of the Igbosere State High Court of Lagos, Lagos, for 7 years.

The convict had received the said amount as a loan from Diamond Bank Plc, with a forged Occupancy Certificate, C of O, and refused to repay, reports Channels TV.

His path to prison subsequently began after he was arraigned by the Lagos Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, alongside his business, Centre Global Limited, on a three-count charge sometime in 2018, bordering on obtaining false documents by false pretence, forgery and use, to which he pleaded not guilty.

In the course of his trial, defense lawyer Anita Imo tendered numerous papers and exhibits and called five witnesses to prove the convict's guilt.

Justice Oyefeso found him guilty of the crime on September 23, 2020, but postponed the decision to Monday, September 28, 2020.

Justice Oyefeso sentenced him to seven years in prison without the option of a fine, delivering her judgment today.

She also ordered that the firm, Centre Global Limited, be wound up and that Diamond Bank Plc be sent all the money accrued from it.
