on: January 06, 2025, 01:04:08 PM

Four persons have been reported dead while three others sustained varying injuries after a diesel-laden tanker exploded at Agbor town in Delta State on Sunday, January 5.

The diesel tanker was said to have suffered a brake failure and fell at a traffic light junction at Agbor, which resulted in an explosion that burnt four people to death.

Several vehicles and houses were burnt despite frantic efforts by sympathisers to put out the fire that engulfed the tanker.

Reacting to the sad incident, the state governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of victims of the fire incident. He described the fire incident as horrifying and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured and fortitude to those bereaved in the unfortunate incident.

Governor Oborevwori, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, directed the State Ministry of Health, the State Emergency Management Agency, and other relevant authorities to expedite action by providing much-needed immediate support to all victims of the incident.

The Delta State Governor commended the Fire Service, the good people of Ika South Local Government, and security agencies who rallied around to put out the inferno and their dedication to assisting those affected by the fire incident.
