on: May 11, 2022, 12:56:06 PM

There was a blast suspected to be a bomb explosion in Jalingo, the Taraba state capital.

The explosion, which occurred on Tuesday at about 9pm, took place a few metres away from the military base located in the Jalingo metropolis.

A source said the explosive was thrown into the military base by a passerby

The explosion, as noticed by, is coming barely a month after a similar incident occurred in Iware community in Ardo-Kola council that led to massive destruction of lives and property.

Apart from that of Iware, it would be recalled that another explosion occurred in Nukkai area of Jalingo city last month.

At the time of filing this report, the number of casualties cannot be ascertained, as palpable tension was observed to have enveloped the state capital.

Confirming the report, the state police command through its Public Relation Officer (PPRO), Usman Abdullahi, told our reporter that he heard the sound and that he has confirmed that it was an explosion, but could not ascertain if anyone died.

He, however, promised to furnish our reporter with detailed information as soon as they are made available to the command.

The explosion, as observed by our correspondent, is the third of its kind in the state within the space of one.
