A young interior designer, Deborah Moses, widely known by her brand name Deb’rah Porsche, has been stabbed to death in Lagos by her former boyfriend, months after their separation.
The suspect, identified as Lintex from Otukpo, Benue State, allegedly gained access to the estate where Deborah resided on Wednesday night by disguising as a dispatch rider.
When security personnel became suspicious, he reportedly scaled the perimeter fence to enter the compound.
According to activist Meddy Olotu, the suspect first attempted to sabotage the gas pipeline outside the apartment in what appeared to be an effort to trigger an explosion.
After that failed, he forcibly broke into Deborah’s residence, where he attacked her with a knife and inflicted multiple stab wounds that led to her death.
Family sources said Deborah had ended the relationship over a year ago, but the suspect persistently harassed her and issued threats.
“They have broken up for more than a year now, but this guy refused to move on. He keeps making statements like, ‘If I don’t have you, nobody will. If I don’t marry you, blood will flow,’” her sister recalled.
She added that Deborah, who had just finished her National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, assignment and was pursuing a career in interior decoration, had been ignoring persistent calls and advances from her former partner.
“She was only trying to find her feet when this tragedy struck,” the sister said.
Neighbors overpowered the suspect after the attack and handed him over to the police.
He is currently in custody as the victim’s family and rights groups demand justice and urge authorities not to allow the case to be swept under the carpet.
JUSTICE DEMAND
Deborah Moses from Ohuhu Owo Oju LGA Benue State, was brutally murdered two nights ago in Lagos by her ex-boyfriend, Lintex Ogale from IDOMA Otukpo LGA .
Reports confirm that Deborah ended the relationship since last year, but the young man refused to move on, insisting that if he could not have her, no one else would. Tragically, on Wednesday night, he disguised himself as a dispatch rider to gain entry into her estate, and there, he stabbed her multiple times in her own home, ending her life.
Deborah had just completed her NYSC and had begun building her career as an interior decorator. She had so many dreams ahead of her, but they were cut short in the most heartless and unjust way.
The suspect has since been arrested and is now in police custody. Those of us in Lagos will follow up physically on the case, but we need everyone to amplify this call. Please, speak about this on your platforms. Let the world hear our cry: Deborah must get justice.
If someone says they are no longer interested in a relationship, respect their decision. Love is never by force. It is wickedness and foolishness to take a life because of rejection.
This case must not be swept under the carpet like others enough is enough. It cannot and it will not.
Painfully, this tragedy happened on the very day we celebrated Igede Agba.
Let us stand together, united in grief and in demand for justice.
