The unfortunate incident took place on Monday when a passenger vehicle was involved in a crash, leading to significant fatalities. Eyewitness accounts describe the scene as horrific, with numerous bodies dispersed across the area. The state police command verified the occurrence on Monday through its Public Relations Officer, DSP Shi’isu Adam. Adam indicated that the driver of the vehicle survived the incident and is currently cooperating with the police to determine the cause of the accident. “The identities of the victims have not been released, pending notification of their families,” he said. Adam stated that the incident took place when a Golf 3 wagon, bearing the license plate GML 842 XA, was en route from Hadejia town to Makera village, at which point it overturned and fell into the river. The police spokesperson disclosed that the vehicle’s driver emerged from the accident unscathed and is presently cooperating with the police during the investigation. “When we got a distress call, our men promptly moved to the scene of the accident, and carried the victims to the nearest Hadejia General Hospital, where a doctor on call confirmed the deaths of eight women, two men and four young men at the scene,” he said. According to him, a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing. As the investigation unfolds, the police have appealed to the public to provide any information that may help determine the cause of the accident.
