Design

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 7 2019 model laptop sports a lightweight yet durable chassis. At first glance, you get the same sleek and aesthetic as last year’s model, with a few very subtle changes.

Lenovo Thinkpad X1 (2019) is made of the usual magnesium alloy mixed with carbon-fiber that gives it a lightweight solidity. However, the chassis is build out of aluminum material to help portray the classic.

The new carbon fiber design on the lid is unfortunately only offered for the 4K Dolby Vision model, thus users with lesser variant will get a magnesium alloy design.

At 6% thinner than its predecessor, the X1 Carbon Gen 7 is only 14.9mm thin with only 1.08kg weight. Lenovo has also trimmed down the display bezels to offer a larger screen.

On the Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon’s lid is a stylishly inscribed Trade name at the top right corner.  On the bottom-right, there’s also the new X1 logo that was also born last year, replacing the Lenovo logo.

When opened the Laptop offers 14-inches screen and 750p HD Web Camera.

Similarly, on the Lenovo X1 base is two speaker grills on the deck along with a sticking point, curved keys, trackpoint and touchpad buttons.

On the left-hand side of the laptop, sits two USB-C 3.1 ports,  two Thunderbolt 3 ports, an Ethernet dock connector, and  USB 3.1 Type-A port.

Furthermore, on the other side is a second USB-A 3.1 port, HDMI 1.4 port, a 3.5mm headphone/mic combo jack and a Kensington lock.

Display

Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 7 2019 model offers a total of five different display with 14-inch screen size each. This include two 1080p FHD IPS non-touch panel, a 1080p FHD IPS touch panel, a 2K (2560 x 1440) IPS WQHD panel and a 4K IPS (3840 x 2160) HDR panel

The 4K screen is notably brighter, sharper and more vibrant than the FHD option, hence, it delivers a visual feast that’s detailed, bright and incredibly vibrant.

Similarly, the 14-inches 4K IPS  display panel comes with Dolby Vision, HDR400, and brightness up to 500 nits while the other 1080p and a full 10-bit color panel provides a very respectable 400 nits brightness.

However, although the 4K screen offers display  benefits more than the WQHD and FHD panel, all the Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Gen 7 2019 model viewing angles are solid with 16:9 screen aspect ratio, thus resulting into a bigger view of picture.
